Alternative arrangement options
When you record an absence, the Alternative arrangement question asks for the highest-ranking staff member or external support arranged to cover clinical decision-making while no RN was on site. Work down the list and select the first option that applies.
The options below are reproduced exactly as worded by the Department.
The nine options
- RN in immediately adjacent co-located health facility who can attend in person
- RN on-call who can attend in person
- NP on-call who can attend in person
- GP on-call who can attend in person
- RN on-call who is unable to attend in person
- NP on-call who is unable to attend in person
- GP on-call who is unable to attend in person
- Specialist telehealth services
- None of the above
How to choose
The options are ranked from strongest to weakest cover. Support that can attend in person ranks above support that cannot, and within each group an RN ranks above a nurse practitioner (NP), who ranks above a general practitioner (GP). Start at the top of the list and select the first option that accurately describes the arrangement in place.
If none of the options applied, select None of the above rather than choosing the closest match. The Department treats this as a distinct response.
